Frequently Asked Questions
We've listed the top-10 most often asked questions below.
If you have a question not mentioned here, please e-mail us so we can
assist you.
Q. Does CMG
ship locally? Do you ship nationwide? Are your products available internationally?
A. Yes, we deliver many products locally
within a 150-mile radius of our rail spurs. We also ship products throughout
North America direct from the quarry. Yes, we can ship internationally.
Our Integrated Supply System (ISS) can precisely source and arrange local,
national, and international shipments. Rates are based on mileage and
quantities. Please see our Request For Quote (RFQ) Form or contact our
Sales & Marketing staff for further information.
Q. Is shipping included in the cost of stone?
A. No, freight is additional. However, we
most often quote a delivered price. Our Integrated Supply System (ISS)
precisely sources and arranges for the most economical freight carriers
servicing your area. CMG is networked with many of the largest and strongest
logistics companies (Rail, Water-born, and Trucking) in North America.

Q. Is there a charge for pallets? Are pallets
returnable?
A. Not usually, pallets are generally included
with your order. Some suppliers bill differently so we will quote accordingly.
To maintain the quality of packaging, new pallets are generally used for
each order. Therefore, returns are not required.
Q. How much does a pallet of stone weigh?
How much does bulk stone weigh? How much stone will my job require?
A. Depending on product type, on average
a pallet weighs between 1 1/2 and 2 tons. Nursery pallets weight 1-ton
+/-. *One ton of bulk granite, marble, and limestone (Like 6A and natural
pea stone) will cover approx 100 sq. ft./ton @ 2" and 70 sq. ft./ton
@ 3". Mid-weight bulk stone like scoria (Western Sunrise) and crushed
brick has better yield/ton and will cover approx 150 sq. ft./ton @ 2".
Lightweight bulk stone like (Beachwood and Lava Rock) has even better
yield/ton and will cover approx 200 sq. ft./ton @ 3" deep or 300
sq. ft./ton @ 2" deep. Natural 2-8" covers approx 35 sq. ft./ton
@ 6" deep. Natural 4-12" covers approx 25 sq. ft./ton @ 8"
deep. Material should be estimated according to compaction requirements
for the job. Due to variances in grade (depth), potential penetration
into soft sub-grade, and waste created if material is moved around your
project, Cornerstone Marketing Group will not assume responsibility of
volume estimates. The calculation is designed to give an approximate estimate.
Important Note: Stone is a natural product. Size, color and density will
vary - that is part of the beauty of stone. However, because of this variation,
coverage will vary. Our Estimating Guide will give you approximate, average
coverage per ton. We recommend buying 5% more to insure complete coverage.
Q. What is in the Cornerstone name?
A. There are many meanings to our name. 1)
Isaiah 28:16
a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation
If
you are building anything, you need a sure foundation stone, a cornerstone.
Nowadays the laying of a cornerstone is mainly ceremonial, and before
it is laid most of the preliminary construction has already been done
and the foundation is already in place. But anciently, the cornerstone
was much more important as the actual beginning, from which all other
angles and measurements were taken. Before laser beam projections, a builder
used his right-angle square, his plumb line, and his compasses, and once
his cornerstone was solidly in place it provided the unchanging standard,
the unmovable original orientation for the entire structure. In the language
of builders, it took a perfect ashlar, hewn square and straight, to serve
as the reference point for a sound and correct edifice. Spiritually Jesus
Christ is just that feature, the cornerstone of His church. 2) Definition
of Cornerstone, n. something fundamental or of primary importance; foundation.
3) A business is built on a foundation of core products. Our success depends
on our ability to contribute to the success of our customers and to do
so we must 'become' a foundation to our customer's success. Our goal is
to provide foundational value to our customers with our superior products
selection, logistics, and service. "Cornerstone- Our Foundation,
Your Advantage" Cornerstone, It's our mission.
